Stray Sheep
Bible Text: Isaiah 53:6 | Pastor: Vicar Benjamin Hayter | Series: The Suffering Savior | In our passage for today (Isaiah 53:6) we hear that “We all like sheep have gone astray.” Today it may
not feel like we have gone astray, but that we have been forced astray and away from the sheepfold of
the church. It is true that concerns about COVID-19 have sent us into isolation and have kept us away
from the building that we all know as Zion Lutheran Church. But Zion is not just a building. It is the
place from which God shines forth. He shines through his Word and into our hearts. He shines,
showing us that we have indeed gone astray like sheep. He shines and drives us to repentance. He
shines and gives us forgiveness. He shines so that we can serve our neighbors in all aspects of life, no
matter where we find ourselves. And through the power of his Word and the Spirit, we too shine. This is
the Word that we will hear today, no matter where we are. We are Zion! From us, God shines forth!
