Is There No Justice?
Bible Text: Isaiah 53:8 | Pastor: Vicar Benjamin Hayter | Series: The Suffering Savior | Justice. This is a very interesting word. It’s interesting because it is difficult to understand. From a worldly point of view, you might think that justice means everyone getting what they deserve. Justice is served in a court of law, and those who have been wronged are given their due. Justice is where everyone acts within their rights without infringing upon anyone else’s. But God’s definition of justice is different than ours. It is not about him giving people what they deserve, but about him making his world the way that he wants it to be. In God’s vocabulary justice and mercy are synonyms, and in the end, we want God’s justice not our own. God’s justice looks like release for the captives, food for the hungry, healing for the sick, and forgiveness for the sinners, and all of it under-served. So when you pray, pray for justice, that God would take his world back from all the injustice that we see in it. Come quickly Lord.
