Card companies would have us believe that this means a time of peace, warmth and happiness. In reality, for many of us, family gatherings can also mean a time of tension, conflict and hurt feelings. This Advent, we turn our eyes to one of the most dysfunctional families in all of Scripture; King David’s. As we read the stories about his family, we’ll see a bit of ourselves in their stories, but most importantly, we’ll see God at work fixing the whole world’s dysfunction by moving it toward the birth of a Savior.
